HVAC and architecture

HVAC should be designed with your home, not added after it.

In a well-designed home, the details are deliberate: ceiling lines, wall surfaces, materials, light. Conventional grilles and afterthought equipment locations can work against that.

We approach residential HVAC as part of the design. That means planning air distribution early, choosing systems for the way the home will be lived in, and coordinating with your builder and design team so comfort, technology and appearance are resolved together.

The result we aim for is a home that is comfortable and quiet in its details: the system does its job and stays out of the way.

What we focus on

Technically advanced, quietly integrated.

Integration with architecture

Air distribution, equipment locations and ceiling and wall details planned together with the design of the home.

Comfort

Even, controlled comfort throughout the house, planned room by room.

Zoning

Separate control for the spaces that are used differently, so the whole house is not treated as one load.

Linear diffusers

Slim slot diffusers that sit flush with ceilings and walls and leave a clean line instead of conventional grilles.

Discreet air distribution

A design goal: keep visible HVAC elements to a minimum, within what the layout and equipment allow.

Advanced systems

VRF / VRV systems and inverter systems, considered on their merits for each home.

Energy efficiency

Equipment and design choices evaluated for how they affect energy use, not only first cost.

Long-term operating cost

A look beyond the purchase price to what a system is likely to cost to own and operate.

Custom design and installation

Systems designed and installed for the specific home, not selected from a catalog and dropped in.

Linear diffusers

A clean line instead of a grille.

Linear slot diffusers are among the most effective ways to keep air distribution discreet. They can be set flush into ceilings, walls and bulkheads, and finished to blend with the surrounding surface.

Diffuser selection depends on airflow requirements, throw, noise criteria and the design of the space. Appearance is one factor among several.

Advanced systems

Two technologies we consider, each on its merits.

Neither is the answer for every home. We recommend based on the house, how it is used and what matters to you.

Efficiency and long-term cost

Think about what it will cost to own.

A custom home is a long-term investment, and its HVAC should be judged the same way: purchase price is only the first number.

Energy use, operating cost, equipment technology and how long you will own the home all shape the cost of ownership. We help you weigh those factors when comparing options, and we do not promise specific savings: results depend on the home, equipment, climate, usage, installation and maintenance.

Working with your builder High-end homes are usually delivered by a general contractor or builder working with a design team. See how we work with builders on the Contractors & Builders page.

How we work

From design intent to installed system.

  1. Plans and design intent. We review the architectural plans and the design intent, including where air needs to be delivered and what should stay out of sight.
  2. System recommendation. We recommend the system type that suits the home, and explain the reasoning. VRF / VRV systems and inverter systems are options, not defaults.
  3. Air distribution planning. Diffuser types, locations and duct or piping routes are planned with the builder and design team.
  4. Equipment and installation. Equipment supply and installation carried out to the contracted scope and specifications.

Questions

High-end residential HVAC: common questions.

What are linear diffusers?

Linear slot diffusers distribute air through a narrow slot that can sit flush with a ceiling, wall or bulkhead. They create a clean visual line and are often chosen where appearance matters. Selection depends on airflow requirements and the design of the space.

Can the HVAC system be hidden?

Discreet integration is a design goal. How much of the system is visible depends on the equipment, the layout of the home and the choices made during design. We plan air distribution early so visible elements are kept to a minimum.

Do you install VRF / VRV systems and inverter systems in homes?

Yes, where they suit the project. VRF / VRV systems and inverter systems are separate topics, each covered on its own page, and neither is the right answer for every home. We recommend based on the house and how it is used.

Do you work with builders and design teams?

Yes. High-end residential projects usually involve a general contractor or builder and a design team, and we coordinate the HVAC scope with them from plans through installation.

Does a better HVAC system save money or add home value?

We do not make blanket claims about savings or property value. Energy use and operating cost depend on the home, the equipment, the climate, how the home is used and how the system is installed and maintained.
